We are an Atlas Diamond Contractor, the top tier of Atlas' contractor program, and we specify for the Front Range instead of fitting the same roof everywhere. In practice that usually means an impact-resistant shingle, a ventilation plan that moves moisture out of the attic, and flashing cut to your roof rather than bent to fit it.

Inspect, plan, install is how the job runs from your side of it. This is the other half: the build standard our crews work to once the truck is in your driveway, in the order it happens.
Tarps go over the landscaping, the AC condenser and anything else exposed before a single shingle comes off. A wrecked flower bed and a dented condenser are avoidable, so we avoid them instead of apologizing for them at the end of the day.
Everything comes off, down to the bare decking. We do not lay a new roof over an old one. A layover buries the deck where nobody can inspect it, adds dead weight, and shortens the life of the shingles you just paid for.
With the deck exposed we walk all of it. Anything soft, rotted or water-damaged is cut out and replaced with new OSB or plywood. This is not an upsell. It is what the manufacturer's warranty is written against, and a bad deck voids it.
Ice and water shield at the eaves, through the valleys and around every penetration, then synthetic underlayment across the entire deck. Both outperform the felt paper a storm-chasing crew rolls out, and this is the layer that keeps water out when wind lifts a shingle.
Step, valley and chimney flashing cut and fitted to your roof's geometry rather than reused from the old one, and new metal drip edge on every perimeter, which the code here requires. Most leaks we get called out to are a flashing detail somebody rushed.
Laid to Atlas' pattern by the crews of an Atlas Diamond Contractor, and fastened with six nails per shingle. Six is not the code minimum, which is four, and it is more than Atlas' standard application requires. We run it as standard rather than as an upgrade, because Front Range wind does not read the minimums.
Magnetic sweepers over the drive, the lawn and the beds, more than once, and a walk of the property with you before the crew pulls out. You should not be finding roofing nails in a tire in August.

Call us or send a message and we get on the roof for a free inspection. That is the whole ask at this stage. Nothing goes to your carrier until you know whether there is damage worth filing on.
Your carrier sends its own adjuster and the meeting happens at your house. Be there to let everyone in, and we will be on the roof alongside them. It is the one appointment in the process worth rearranging a day for.
Once the scope is agreed you choose the color and the class, including whether to go impact resistant. We bring samples to the house. Everything else on this page is our job, not yours.

We walk every slope and document what is there, damage and no damage both, dated. A claim is only as strong as its evidence, and evidence gathered after an adjuster has already been out and gone counts for much less.
The damage goes into a detailed line-item scope of work built to insurance industry standards, so your adjuster is reading a document in the format they work in rather than a contractor's one-page bid.
We arrange that visit with your carrier and we are up there for it, pointing at what we found. Adjusters are covering a whole county in the weeks after a hailstorm. Somebody walking the roof with them is how detail gets recorded.
Deductible, recoverable depreciation, replacement cost against actual cash value. Those terms decide what you are actually paid. We go through the paperwork and tell you what it says, including the parts that are not in your favor.
Then we do the work, to the scope the claim covers. If the tear-off shows a deck worse than anyone could see from above, that gets photographed and supplemented through your carrier, not quietly absorbed and not quietly skipped.
Every hail season somebody knocks on a door in Colorado Springs offering to cover the homeowner's deductible. Colorado does not allow it. C.R.S. 6-22-105 bars a roofer working from insurance proceeds from advertising or promising to pay, waive, rebate or absorb your deductible, and C.R.S. 6-22-103 requires our contract to tell you so in writing. The consequences are civil rather than criminal: your insurer does not have to consider that contractor's estimate, and you or your insurer can sue. So we will never offer it, and anyone who does has told you something useful about how they work.
Read someone who is not us
The Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety fires hailstones at roofing assemblies in a laboratory and publishes what happens. Their page on impact-resistant roofing explains what a Class 4 rating is worth, and no contractor or manufacturer had a hand in writing it.
ibhs.orgA roof here does not fail the way a roof at sea level fails. Hail, freeze-thaw and altitude each go after a different part of the system, and a specification written for this address has to answer all three of them.
El Paso County is among the busiest hail claim regions in the country. Quarter-sized stones crack the granule surface and take years off a roof that still looks fine from the ground. We install Class 3 and Class 4 impact-resistant shingles, and many carriers discount a home that has them.
A forty to fifty degree swing between noon and midnight is an ordinary Front Range day. Fasteners work loose, flashing cracks, and meltwater refreezes at the cold eave into an ice dam. The answers are attic ventilation, ice and water shield where water backs up, and drip edge that is actually there.
Colorado Springs sits at 6,035 feet, with markedly more ultraviolet reaching the roof than the same shingle would take at sea level. Asphalt dries out, curls at the edges and gives up its granules faster here, which is why the wrapper's warranty length is not a forecast.

A full replacement on a typical 1,500 to 2,500 square foot home lands somewhere between $8,000 and $18,000 in this market. That spread is not evasiveness, it is six variables, and here is every one of them before anybody gets on your roof.

Square footage sets the material and most of the labor. Pitch sets how fast a crew can safely move. Past about a 6/12 the job needs fall protection and slows down, so a steep roof and a walkable roof of identical size are not the same price.
Standard architectural shingles are the value option and a perfectly good roof. Class 4 impact-resistant costs more up front, and many carriers discount a home that carries it. Designer profiles and standing-seam metal sit at the top of the range.
Nobody knows what is under the shingles until they come off. Rotted or water-damaged OSB and plywood has to be replaced before anything new goes down. We price the roof we can see, then show you the deck before we swap a single sheet of it.
Valleys, dormers, skylights and chimneys all mean cutting, flashing and slow detail work. A simple gable is the cheapest roof there is to replace. Two houses with the same square footage can sit a long way apart on this factor alone.
Ice and water shield, synthetic underlayment, drip edge, ridge vent, step flashing. These are the line items a suspiciously low bid quietly leaves off, and they are where the leaks come from three winters later.
The one factor that moves the number the other way. On a covered storm claim your out-of-pocket can come down to the deductible, whatever the roof itself costs. We document the damage thoroughly so the claim reflects what is actually up there.
